Sad to say, but I seriously had to agree on what the elderly always say:
"Kids nowadays can't just live without technology."
Yes, I can see you staring at the screen in front of you with disbelief , and thinking: That's not necessarily true! At least I am not like that! Well, I have to admit, not all kids are like that, because I am not like it myself (yes, and I consider myself as a kid, a 17-year-old kid, I mean, who doesn't like to stay young?!). So, just let me stay this straight -- this particular post has nothing to do with you if you are NOT obsessed with gadgets, fair enough?
To me, a phone that can be used to make phone calls, text, set alarms, and reminders would be more than sufficient, plus I could use it for years. I got my phone at 13, but what was regretted afterwards is that I do not use all the functions that my phone has. Just take a look at it, you can see no songs downloaded in it, not many pictures, video clips whatsoever. So sad to say, smartphones or tablets nowadays are just not my cup of tea. I mean, I would not have much problem using them, but all that is not necessary, I would not bother to download any apps either, I am just too lazy to do all that. I go simple and cheap.
Talking about cheap stuff, it makes me feel like I am a cheap person, well I guess I am, and there's nothing wrong with that! Whenever I shop, be it clothes, accessories, daily stuff, my priority goes like this : price > quality > suitability (a.k.a. "taste" or "style") > brand. Let's think about it: Why go for the expensive one, when there is one with similar qualities for a much cheaper price? I encourage all people to live moderately and go low.
Now smartphones and various gadgets can make our lives a whole lot easier and also more convenient, but we people while using them should be vigilant to avoid oneself to turn obsessed. Obsession, or addiction of technology, does not necessarily involves children ONLY, but adults can too be dragged by the nose with ease. Therefore, stay alert at all times, and never fall into the endless pit of overpowering fun of technology, as once you slipped in, you'll definitely find it hard to get out.
The use of the ever-improving tech can be beneficial, as long as we use it wisely and with a clear mind and purpose. So, let's use it the way that we should use it, shall we?
